Jeff Kliment Wow. This one hit me hard on the very first listen. Stopped me in my tracks. On constant rotation ever since. Every song is great and Daniel Herskedal on Jonas is transcendent, as always. Beautiful. Favorite track: Jonas.

sounds and silence This is truely magnificant piece of music. A pure joy to listen. Never bored, always returning. Thanks!

about

Ivan Blomqvist - pianist, synth wizard and producer - has established a distinctive voice on the Scandinavian music scene through projects such as Rohey, Mosambique, Neon Ion and the debut album "Nu minns jag" released on Jazzland Recordings in 2020.

The sequel, "Bror" ("Brother"), is a mix of jazz, electronic and ambient music. The album is suggestive, minimalistic, and meditative, and a vein of melancholy runs through the songs.

Ivan's productions combine acoustic piano, analog synths, organic beats, and rustic timbres in a heartfelt and future-oriented expression. The album has guest musicians of the highest class. On the track "Jonas", we get to hear Daniel Herskedal's lyrical tuba playing in a ten-minute long undulating song. Karl Nyberg (Saxophone) and Lyder Røed (Trumpet) both contribute with their unique expression on, among others, "Tomheten" and "Släpp inte farmor" and throughout the album Lise Sørensen's fragile lines lie like a beautiful veil.

This music is perfect as a soundtrack for a rainy train ride, a cold autumn evening or a warm bath. Sit back and enjoy.
